Things I Thought I Was Too Late For… But Wasn’t
🌸 Things I Thought I Was Too Late For
…and why I’m doing them anyway.
Sometimes the hardest part of starting something new…
is believing it’s still possible for you.
For a long time, I told myself it was too late.
Too late to begin.
Too late to change paths.
Too late to follow the creative pull that had been quietly waiting in the background.
I thought that kind of courage belonged to younger versions of me — the ones with fewer responsibilities, more sleep, and maybe a bit more confidence.
But over time, I’ve learned something soft and powerful:
🌿 It’s never too late to begin again.
🕊 The Lie of Being “Too Late”
Our culture loves timelines.
Graduate by this age.
Be established by that age.
Know who you are — and what you want — as early and neatly as possible.
But real life is messier than that. And more generous.
Whether you’re:
- Returning to a childhood dream
- Starting something creative in your 30s, 40s, 50s (or beyond)
- Learning to parent gently, even if you weren’t raised that way
- Writing your first book, launching a shop, or picking up a paintbrush again…
You’re not behind.
You’re right on time for your story.
✨ What I Thought I Was Too Late For…
🍼 Too late to build a creative business…
As a mum of two small humans, I thought the window had closed.
No time.
No space.
No energy.
Just hot wheels underfoot and cold tea, with sketches squeezed in after bedtime.
But it turns out — slow building still counts.
Each late-night drawing session, every small decision, and the countless moments of doubt? They all added up to something deeply mine.
📚 Too late to self-publish a book…
I didn’t have a publisher.
Or a design degree.
Or any idea where to begin.
Just a story in my heart and a quiet, stubborn voice saying,
“Keep going.”
I googled. I guessed. I cried a bit.
And step by step, Hello Petal came to life.
It’s not perfect. But it’s mine. And it bloomed in its own time.
💛 Too late to believe that my story mattered…
I wasn’t sure anyone would care.
Would they find it too gentle? Too soft? Too small?
But I kept thinking — if just one child felt seen…
If one family read it together…
Then maybe that would be enough.
Creating from softness felt vulnerable. But it also felt like coming home.
🌼 A Book That Bloomed Late
My first book, Hello Petal, is a gentle story about emotions — but in many ways, it’s also a love letter to every late-blooming version of myself.
The one who finally gave herself permission to create.
The one who stopped waiting for the “right” time.
The one who realised the right time… is when you begin.
💛 What I Know Now
I used to think I’d missed my moment.
Now I realise — this is my moment.
Because I’m bringing everything I’ve lived, loved, learned, and longed for into it.
✨ I’m showing my kids what it looks like to try.
✨ To grow gently.
✨ To make something meaningful — even if it’s imperfect, even if it’s small.
That’s not failure.
That’s becoming.
